Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Funeral Guestbook, an iPad app and related services operated by funeral.link. By using our app, you agree to these terms. If you operate a funeral home using our app, you are responsible for ensuring your staff and guests are aware of how data is collected and used.

The service

Funeral Guestbook is a digital guestbook app designed for memorial services. It allows guests to sign a guestbook on an iPad using their handwriting. The app uses AI to transcribe handwritten entries into structured contact data, which is made available to the funeral home operating the memorial.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Funeral Guestbook only for its intended purpose — collecting guestbook entries at memorial services and managing that data for aftercare and follow-up. You may not:

• Use the app to collect data for unsolicited marketing unrelated to funeral services
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app
• Interfere with or disrupt the app, servers, or networks connected to the service
• Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
• Share your account credentials with unauthorized parties

Account responsibilities

Funeral home accounts are created using email-based authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, including any staff PIN set on the iPad and access to the email address associated with your account.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@funeral.link.

Data accuracy and AI transcription

Our app uses AI to transcribe handwritten guestbook entries into structured text. While the AI is highly capable, it is not perfect. Transcription errors may occur, particularly with difficult handwriting, unusual names, or non-standard formatting.

We provide the original handwritten image alongside every transcription so you can verify accuracy. You are responsible for reviewing transcribed data before using it for aftercare outreach. funeral.link is not liable for errors in AI-generated transcriptions.

Intellectual property

The Funeral Guestbook app, including its design, code, and branding, is the property of funeral.link. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the app without written permission.

Guestbook entries belong to the guests who write them. By using the app at a memorial service, guests grant the funeral home permission to access and use their entry for the purpose of aftercare and follow-up. funeral.link retains a license to store and process entries as needed to operate the service.

Limitation of liability

Funeral Guestbook is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do our best to keep the service reliable and secure, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free operation.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, funeral.link shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. This includes, but is not limited to, loss of data, loss of business, or errors in AI transcription.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Funeral Guestbook at any time if you violate these terms or use the service in a way that could harm other users or our infrastructure.

You may stop using the app at any time. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, contact us and we will process the request within 30 days.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
